Organizations

    Many activities throughout the year keep our community involved and interested
    in the special events going on around town & the county.

    The Annual School Alumni Homecoming takes place on Memorial Day weekend.

    The 4th of July celebration includes a parade, family games and entertainment on
    the courthouse lawn, and featuring a three night performance of the award winning
    Leon IRCA Rodeo. A large fireworks display brings the 3 day celebration to a
    spectacular patriotic close!

    The Decatur County 4-H and FFA Fair begins the third week of July with many exhibits
    and a variety of entertainment for all ages.

    In September is the Downhill Derby, a fun time for both kids & adults!

    Labor Day weekend is Demolition Derby time.

    The Central Decatur Football Homecoming is well attended in October.

    Kicking off the Holiday season the second Saturday of November is the Southern Iowa
    Craft Show, with approximately 50 booths of top notch crafts, demonstrations, homemade food items and entertainment.

                           

    The First Saturday In December - Leon Noel & "Hometown Holiday" Parade
    And Festival of Trees

    The Christmas spirit continues through December with street decorations and the
    wonderful partcipation of residents in the Home Lighting and Decorating Contest.
